We made these adorable little dudes and gave them out to everyone we remembered for Christmas 2021. Giving people handmade cards, especially when we've all been isolated for who knows how long, feels pretty darn special on both the giving and receiving sides.
What you need to know:
Makes: 12 Cards
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Crafting Time: 2 hours (outside of card only, little ones helping included)
Dry Time: 24 hours
What you'll need:
Cotton Balls, 2 bags
12 Blank Cards, heavy cardstock (6 sheets, 8.5"x11" cardstock cut in half)
Iridescent Sparkles (or whatever color small human likes), hit up the dollar store
Plain White Liquid Glue
Sequins
Googly Eyes
Thick String or Yarn, Red
Plastic Table Cover, this can be reused until it falls apart, or tossed with all the mess for simple clean up
Paper Towel, handy for quick mess clean up, cause glue and toddlers...
Steps:
Set up your workspace, clear away unnecessary items/ things you don't want to be glued or sparkle-fied, and cover the table in a plastic tablecloth or newspaper.
Set up enough workspaces for the number of children.
If necessary, cut card stock in half and fold on center. Set out the cards.
If you need an outline, draw a light pencil stencil of your snow floof.
Draw a 1-inch circle of glue and let the small human stick the cotton ball to it. Repeat this process until you have a fully formed snow floof.
Add three little dots of glue down the torso and let small human stick the sequins on to make the buttons- let them pick their own colors too!
Cut a 1-inch segment of string. Add glue to the snow floof's face in the shape you want for the mouth. If you feel like drawing a screaming face at this point, you probably aren't alone. You may want to stick the string yourself, depending on the age of the kids doing the craft.
Put down a few dots of glue and let the tot stick down the googly eyes.
Add random dots to the back of the card and let the little people pick out what colors they want to add for the sparkly snow.
Brush a little glue on the snow floof, and sprinkle with a dusting of glitter.
Allow to dry for 24 hours before attempting the inside of the card.
Enjoy your happy (or screaming) little snow floof.
Add something fun and festive inside the card, like this.
Give your emotive little snow floofs to the most deserving lovelies. Keep one for yourself, because memories.
